Rajeev Shukla is ready to become the vice president of the Indian Cricket Board. Rajiv Shukla is all set to start a second innings at the BCCI by becoming the vice-president of the board unopposed during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) that will be held on the 24th of December. When N Srinivasan was the president of BCCI, Rajiv Shukla was the vice-president. Rajiv Shukla has been the frontrunner for the position after the proposal of his name was made by DDCA president Rohan Jaitley. Mahim Verma from Uttarakhand seconded this proposal after vacating the post earlier this year. Rajiv Shukla’s reinstatement was always on the table after Verma had vacated the post of vice-presidency of the BCCI. Rajeev Shukla has also been the chairman of the IPL Governing Council. He has also been the secretary of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) till 2017. Rajeev Shukla was also the IPL chairman till the year 2018.
Amidst the doubts about Rajeev Shukla coming back despite the cooling-off period of the Lodha committee, it is made known that Ipl chairmanship is not considered as a tenure for an office bearer and therefore Rajeev Shukla did not need to go for a cooling-off period. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel and Khairul Jamal (Mamon) Majumdar have been re-elected in the Governing Council. Both of them are also a part of the Cricket Association of Mizoram.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has notified all members to undergo RT-PCR coronavirus test prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
